Kodak Space Invaders
On Photography: Errors and Forced Errors Kodak Space Invaders. Mamiya M645, Mamiya-Sekor 80mm f/1.9, #8 (K2) yellow filter. Kodak Tri-X 400 developed in D-76 1+1.
A lot of things can go wrong with film photography. On this photograph I missed correct exposure. The negative is a little too dense and will never make a fine print. It should have been looked at once and then forgotten. But, that is not what happened because Kodak made a mistake with it before I did. They screwed up the backing paper, allowing the frame numbers and “KODAK” to print-through onto the film. It was an error made by Kodak a few years back. I had 10 rolls of the affected (infected?) film and thought about throwing it out. I decided to just use it…and that is what saved this photo. The Kodak Space Invaders make it unusual and interesting.
Perfection is not for film photographers.
